The true meaning of friendship

Friends are a very important part of my life. I have many friends who I see on a regular basis, many who I only know through Faithwriters, and some from my former days of being in the world.
There is one friend in particular who I see at least twice a week. She and I both share a love for Jesus, and our friendhip was initially based on that rock. It has stood the test of time and she is always there for me through thick and thin. I only have to pick up the phone and should I need her, I know she will come to me as soon as possible. We share the highs and lows of our health, our families and church activites, but most of all we share Jesus. He is the unseen third party at all our meetings.
I was made very much aware of the strength of our relationship this past week. My youngest daughter had to undergo surgery for a hernia. It should have been a simple procedure, but took longer than expected as they had to cut. Noelene was there for me praying that whole day. She was the first to visit me the next day with flowers, from her beautiful garden and chocolates for the patient. Her grandchildren and daughters-in-law love her with a passion as she is just one of those special people.
I pray that our friendship would continue to grow, that we would continually be aware of the third person in our relationship and that I would never let her down.

"Let the readiance of your friendship pour through each of you like light through a prism. Together you create a rainbow that the world would not otherwise know."

What a beautiful thought. Please God let this be true of our friendship.

New Beginnings

Daily we are led by our heavenly Father to a stream of living water where we shall be refreshed.
Sometimes, especially after a major crisis in our lives or just a very hectic schedule we need to sit and drink alongside a stream. Many years ago when I was going through a difficult patch with a boyfriend of mine, we had in fact ended our relationship, but there were issues we needed to sort out. He called for me after work and took me to this spot along the coast. We turned off the busy highway and he drove through bush until we found this spot. To this day I can still see it. There was a running stream, surrounding by rocks and trees. The sun peeped through the green leaves and shimmered on the water. What could have been a truly painful farewell, turned into an afternoon of beauty. We sat for ages, drinking in the beauty and just talking through our relationship. The highs and the lows.
I believe God does the same for us. He calls us daily to find a quiet spot. To sit alongside Him and just to talk through our relationship with Him. He wants to give us life and life in abundance and only through daily meeting with Him, will we be refreshed.
When talking to the woman at the well Jesus says to her"Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life. John 4 vs 13 and 14.
Let us daily meet with Him in our chosen spot and let us drink of this water He has to offer us daily.
